MDS_XA_prebuilt _ReadMe.txt V1.02


The files provided in this package support:

    - Programming of EEPROM for Boot-From-JTAG and Boot-From-Flash.
    - Downloading and running pre-built .OUT files using dvpMon/JTAG.
    - Programming of flash memory for subsequent Boot-From-Flash.

This package is intended for use with MDS XA v1.02 and:

    - MediaBox version B10 (mbox_may06_2005_b10.zip)


I.  Getting started with MediaBox (PMP)

    To get started with MediaBox, also known as Portable Media Player
    (PMP), acquire then unzip the MDS XA package, (MDS_XA_Vm.nn.zip
    where 'm' and 'nn' are the version number), then see the MediaBox
    User Manual contained therein:

        MDS_XA\docs\Manuals\_MediaBox.pdf

    Quick Start notes for MediaBox EEPROM and Flash Programming:
    ------------------------------------------------------------

    1.  EEPROM

    You can use the MDS PCI-JTAG card to program the eeprom contents
    using the boundary-scan capability of the PMP board. See these
    batch files in the "eeprom_binary_images" directory below this
    one.

        program_jtagboot_eeprom_defaultMAC.bat
        program_norflashboot_eeprom_defaultMAC.bat

    2.  Flash

    To do a Flash Boot build of your application, you need to use a
    MDS "XA" project style, and set this environment variable in your
    setup.bat file:

        set _XA_FLASH_BUILD=yes

II. Getting started with MBE (MMS-MBE)

    To get started with MBE, also known as MMS-MBE, acquire then unzip
    the MDS XA package, (MDS_XA_Vm.nn.zip where 'm' and 'nn' are the
    version number), then see the MBE User Manual contained therein:
